The boys' great uncle showed them some Civil War guns and how they worked. He also taught them some great Civil War stuff (see his cool drawing above of some battles). This was all in preparation for visiting Appomattox Court House.
This is the McLean House, where they signed papers to end the war.
This is the room where Robert E. Lee and Grant met when Lee surrendered.
Outside of the slave quarters at the McLean home
This "pose" has become a tradition for the boys whenever they see a bathroom :)
My little prisoners! That's what they get for choosing to buy Union caps at the gift shop...
Time for some fun!
We are one tough crew! (My favorite photo from our vacation!)
There were lots of cats roaming around aunt & uncle's house
2nd cousins to play with and meet for the first time!
Late-night pool party with all the cousins. The boys learned how to chicken fight!
Their great uncle helped them make their own ammo boxes in his workshop.
One last group photo before heading to Ohio - what a fun time with family!
